Garth Stevenson

Having a nice friday evening at home; relaxing, drinking wine and trying to reorganize myself after the holidays - just finished with a teacher workshop on shoulders and preventing injuries - I'm listening to my favorite Pandora radio station (Florence and the Machine) and I'm reminded of a musician I was recently introduced to - Garth Stevenson. I first heard his music in a yin yoga class - so beautiful and moving, the sounds truly brings you inward - great for a slow paced class.

Garth Stevenson
Bassist and composer of music for yoga classes.

His two albums, Alpine and Flying, are available on his website - either via physical cd - which would include a handmade album case - or electronically. His albums are also available on itunes.

Enjoy.

yes...this really is a greeting card

love yourself.
make peace with who you are and where you are at this moment.

listen to your heart.
if you can't hear what's it's saying in this noisy world, make time for yourself.
enjoy your own company.
let your mind wander among the stars.

try.
take chances.
make mistakes.
life can be messy and confusing at times, but it's also full of surprises.
the next rock in your path might be a stepping-stone.

be happy.
when you don't have what you want, want what you have.
make do.
that's a well-kept secret of contentment.

there aren't any shortcuts to tomorrow.
you have to make your own way.
to know where you're going is only part of it.
you need to know where you've been, too.
and if you ever get lost, don't worry.
the people who love you will find you.
count on it.

life isn't days and years.
it's what you do with time and with all the goodness and grace that's inside you.
make a beautiful life...
the kind of life you deserve.

Happy new year!
Happy new blog!

The new year is all about new beginnings - and I have decided to begin this blog. Having just finished a 200 hour yoga teacher training program, I hope to bring myself, and you, lots of yoga this year! So to begin I will say this - while I would love to make it to a yoga studio everyday for class, working and other life events can make getting to class tough. So, in order to honor myself and my new years resolutions, the past two days I have been taking classes online via Yogaglo (yogaglo) - a great online resource for classes. I just recently started using the website and I LOVE it. You can take classes in lots of different styles/levels and at any length - they even have 5 minute videos - so there's never an excuse not to yoga everyday! The website is really easy to navigate and there is a great "beginner center" where new yogi's can watch short videos to get introduced to the many different styles of yoga and even begin or improve on meditation skills. Best part - you can sign up for a free 15 day trial - and then for only $18.00 a month you can have a teacher in front of you everyday! Being a yoga teacher myself - I know the importance of having a hands on yoga experience with a teacher who can give you feedback, especially to prevent injury - but this is a great inexpensive way to supplement a regular class at your yoga studio.

Happy yoga year!

Cheers.
